Craftsman House: Your Guide to this Popular House Style

The columns holding up the awning are tapered at the top, and the wide bases of these supports add to the overall sturdy aesthetic. Typically there are brick or cement steps leading up to the covered porch. Foursquare craftsman homes are a combination of American foursquare and craftsman-style architecture.

Single-Story Craftsman House Plans (Ranch-Style)

Many of the Craftsman homes are bungalows or 1.5-story homes with covered front porches. “The style is abundantly unique with exposed beams, stained wood trim and doors, long overhanging eaves, low sloped roofs, and often a combination of painted wood and stucco exteriors,” Grochowski says. Built-in seating and nooks, abundant paneling, and plenty of other woodwork detail cement the Craftsman home design.

Maplewood, Plan #1942

The Arts and Crafts Movement emerged in the United States in Boston in the 1890s. Using medium to dark-stained wood on the interiors lends Craftsman interiors a traditionally masculine feel. Given how popular these homes now are, it is little surprise that people are snapping them up as they sense an opportunity to earn a nice return on investment when they do so. Make sure you are prepared for the competition that is out there if you are to decide to get involved with a Craftsman home.

We worked through FaceTime and email and they had a local friend who helped manage some of the deliveries and work schedules surrounding the project. However, it is important to remember that if you use wood–especially hollow wood–for your columns, it must be properly cared for or it may attract termites, moisture, or other weather-related problems. Since both the panes slide up and down, you’ll be able to achieve optimal ventilation whenever needed. Unlike other types of windows, double hanging windows don’t crank out nor do they project outwards. Thus, it minimizes the risk of accidents especially in high traffic areas like patios, decks, and walkways.

We love the use of wood and stone and the steep vaulted ceilings that fill the house with warmth and character. A bright exterior paint color adds to the distinctive look of the Craftsman, but this house would look great in pretty much any color. A well-placed window box or an authentic period porch light can provide a focal point that sets the tone for a Craftsman-style home. Garage doors can also enhance the classic Craftsman styling, as seen with this charming exterior. Recessed panels in the garage doors mimic those in the front door, calling attention to the home's entry and lending a welcoming overall look.

The Gamble House is a home located in Pasadena, California, designed by brothers Charles and Henry Greene. This home is noted for its careful craftsmanship, attention to detail, and Japanese and craftsman-style influences. Most concrete block (CMU) homes have 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 exterior walls on the 2nd story. Perhaps just as famous, the Prairie School of architecture, led by Frank Lloyd Wright, also comes from the American Craftsman movement.

A well-maintained design will still bear its earthy, neutral exterior colors, and sometimes feature stone, brick, or stucco accents alongside its primary wood siding. Many craftsman homes feature dormer windows that break the continuous roof line. Mission Revival homes draw inspiration from Spanish Missions built between 1769 and 1823 in California. However, they share much in common with craftsman homes, including low-pitched gables, hipped roofs, wide eaves, and earthen materials. The American Foursquare was a late 19th-century transitional style linking the taller homes of the Victorian era with the horizontal homes of the craftsman era. The telltale signal is the home’s symmetrical, boxy design, with each floor having four rooms.

Interestingly, the Arts and Crafts style toned down the intricate ornamentation of the Victorian era, and it helped lead to open floor plans in living spaces. Unlike today’s typical open-plan spaces, they feature distinct living and dining spaces; small eat-in kitchen nooks; and a traditional, human-scaled space plan. Living and dining rooms are typically anchored by one or two fireplaces as central room features, which may be clad in brick or tile. Hipped and gable rooflines along with a welcoming entry porch accentuated with elegant columns grace this 3-bedroom country-style home. The Lewisville home flaunts a country charm with its stark white siding, decorative trims, and a wide front porch topped with three dormer windows.

How to find craftsman-style houses for sale in your area

Many four-square craftsman homes feature a front-facing hipped gable with a dormer window to add interest to the roofline. The over-extended eaves of Craftsman roofs lend themselves to having spacious porches on the front of houses, which featured thick, tapered columns along the perimeter. Typically, the exterior of these homes had painted wood siding, but accents of stucco or stone were used fairly often as well—the common theme being an emphasis on earthy tones.

This Craftsman bungalow's broad proportions, overhanging eaves, and exposed brackets are typical of Arts and Crafts construction. Roof designs are generally either single- or double-pitched on Craftsman-style homes. It's also common for the roof to stretch past the exterior walls, resulting in deep eaves that offer shade along the side of the house or form a covered front porch. The exterior of craftsman homes uses a wide range of natural materials, such as wood, stone, and brick, to emphasize their connection with nature. Exterior walls are clad in elements like wood shingles, clapboard siding, and stucco and might feature supports of stone or brick.

Other American bungalows nod toward the craftsman style with ample use of built-ins, wood trim, earthy materials (especially brick), and bay windows. These also have roots in the Arts & Crafts movement but were built a little later (1910s-1940s). These typically one-story homes are recognizable due to their modest size and cozy features like overhanging eaves and wide open front porches. On the balance I prefer two-story houses because I like the additional space. Moreover, the Craftsman style looks great as a single story house as you can see with the above example.

The term 'Craftsman' was originally coined by Gustav Stickley of Stickley Furniture, in his then-published magazine The Craftsman. Midway through the 19th century, after decades of seeing the Industrial Revolution radically transform the world, the Arts and Crafts Movement began. British architects and artists began to push back against the design and inferior quality of mass-produced goods, and the ideals quickly spread to the United States. Los Angeles, San Diego, and the surrounding areas have thousands of California bungalows with “Bungalow Heaven” now a landmark district in Pasadena.

That is very important because some people are literally physically incapable of doing so, and it is nice for them to have a space to live that accommodates for that. 'We kept the wood ceiling intact and contrasted the dark woods with the creamy white color we used throughout the home to make a peaceful retreat for the parents,' says Jamie. Other dining room ideas include introducing a soft bronze chandelier with delicate features and hanging tonal pinky beige gauze sheers to filter the light. 'The project took about three months, which is very quick, especially considering it was pretty locked down at the time.

Craftsman bungalows can share many of the characteristics of cottage-style homes. Here, colorful flowers in window boxes dress up the exterior of this quaint Craftsman cottage. A renovation of this home also included cedar shingles, copper gutters, and shutters to restore the house to its former Arts and Crafts styling. This embrace of the handcrafted aesthetics of a pre-industrial world didn’t make its way to the United States until the turn of the 20th century. It became popularized by a magazine called The Craftsman, which sold residential blueprints by famed Arts and Crafts furniture designer Gustav Stickley. Stickley’s simple designs stood in stark contrast to the ornate Victorian styles that were popular at the time, and soon enough, an American design movement was born.

While many love the craft in Craftsman homes, there are plenty of unique and individual styles under the umbrella term as you will discover below. The roof rafter tails are left exposed and it is for this reason why the gutters are impossible to install. The primary bedroom suite, positioned near the rear of the house, connects to a second porch. Two additional bedrooms and a full bathroom are available on the second floor. “I try to keep them out, but they love it; they’re in there all the time,” says Cassidy Elliott of the formal living room. To baby-proof it while still being design-forward, the couple replaced their coffee table with a soft-sided and custom-made pouf with vintage kilim fabric.

An airplane bungalow is a type of craftsman home that became popular in the 1920s in the United States. These homes feature a characteristic roof shape that resembles the wings of an airplane. Airplane bungalows frequently have a small second-story or dormer window that resembles the cockpit of an airplane, with prominent windows. When it comes to the living space interior design of a Craftsman home, functionality is as important as the handcrafted touches. Yeley notes that elements like stained wood window trim, glass-paneled doors, ample shelves, and built-in storage details all add to the architecture. This 3-bedroom country-style ranch offers a sprawling floor plan perfect for a wide lot.

Preserving Spanish, Victorian & Craftsman-Style Kitchen Remodels

Similar to the ever-popular cottage design, bungalow homes can be influenced by a variety of regional styles, and are typically defined more by their layout than their architectural details. Bungalows are usually one-story homes (but may have a hidden second story under the roof) with practical, quaint floorplans. Second stories usually feature dormer windows to allow light to reach the upstairs bedrooms. Unlike the steeply pitched gables on their Victorian counterparts, these homes tend to have less pronounced, softer pitches on their roofs. At the front, the eaves extend far enough to create a covered porch with tapered columns for support.

Classic Features of a Craftsman House Interior

While there are plenty of similarities, including gables, eaves, and materials like brick and stone, there are just as many modern ones that stand out. The paint used within a Craftsman house often compliments these eye-catching details. These colors make materials like wood, stone, and brick pop and stand at the center of attention.

How to Decorate a Craftsman House Interior

On a large scale, Craftsman homes often have a very low design, around one floor or a floor-and-a-half in height. You can consider the house’s design an open floor plan with few hallways and small rooms that center around the kitchen. What characteristics distinguish Craftsman houses apart from other house styles and aesthetics?

Where can you typically find craftsman-style houses?

Craftsman houses can be found anywhere as they have a widespread influence on this architectural style. Front the suburbs in the Midwest to Urban areas in the North, Craftsman homes have found their place in American architectural history. This Craftsman-style house plan contains Craftsman features like a grand, stone-clad entryway and symmetrical, cascading gables. Go rustic with the exterior and building with natural rough-hewn siding and varieties of stone to create a showstopping mountain retreat. Are you looking for more of a Craftsman-style house but still want a classic Southern appeal? Look no further than the Ellenton Place plan with its Arts and Crafts meets Victorian revival facade.

Design Styles

As this movement grew in popularity, offshoots cropped up in the same spirit, with some unique aspects. For example, the Craftsman Bungalow movement lauded a new era of architecture on the West Coast. Craftsman bungalows were first brought on the scene by Henry and Charles Greene, who took heavy inspiration from Japanese architecture to create a uniquely zen take on the Craftsman style. This Craftsman home features large overhangs that create a cozy covered front porch. Designed for one-level living, a second floor can be added within the roofline.

A Craftsman style home is a small to medium-sized, single family home that usually is a square shape with two stories. The wood joinery and front porch are the most apparent traits of a Craftsman style home, but the design has been adapted to suit homeowners needs since their earliest development in the late 19th century. Craftsman house style was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement towards the end of the 19th century. Some architects of the early to mid-20th century drew inspiration from the midwestern landscape and combined these ideas with craftsman design. This group, most notably Frank Lloyd Wright, developed the Prairie School.

Mission Revival Homes

Art was an important consideration in the project, specifically the Latin American works that Deane has collected for years. “We wanted it to feel like there was a conversation between the art and the furniture,” Lavonne Walker says. A series of collages by Brazilian artist Nino Cais complements the soothing energy of the primary bedroom. In the family room, the blues and grays in the large Tiffany Alfonseca painting echo the palette of the textiles in the space. Thus, whether you hear it called Craftsman, American Craftsman, or Arts and Crafts, all these names capture the essence of a design philosophy that celebrates the beauty of handwork.

craftsman style house

The craftsman home style emerged as an architectural style in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The craftsman home style, also known as American craftsman style, began as a reaction to the ornate and mass-produced industrially driven architecture of the Victorian age. By design, Craftsman houses are meant to evoke simpler, quainter times. They came about in response to the Victorian architectural movement from the late 1830s to the early 1900s, which focused on extravagant architecture and ornate details. The telltale elements include cabinetry with inset doors, elegant latching hardware, and exposed hinges.

The modest size and single-story construction characterize the craftsman bungalow style. Craftsman bungalows, unlike some other types of craftsman homes, have an open floor plan that integrates the living spaces. Because of their modest size and thoughtful design, these homes are prominent in both urban and suburban settings.

Outside of the Frank Lloyd Wright–designed Robie House in Chicago, Illinois. A snapshot inside Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House shows a keen focus on woodwork that is void of ostentatious ornamentation. Los Angeles, San Diego, and the surrounding areas have thousands of California bungalows with “Bungalow Heaven” now a landmark district in Pasadena.

The California craftsman style is a regional variation of the broader craftsman style that developed all over the United States. These homes feature large open floor plans, low-pitched roofs, and an emphasis on a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living. This emphasis on indoor-outdoor spaces may lead to style features like large windows, glass doors, large, spacious porches, and integration within the landscape. Exterior craftsman details include exposed rafters, decorative brackets, and other detailed woodwork around the eaves and porch. Many four-square craftsman homes feature a front-facing hipped gable with a dormer window to add interest to the roofline.

Especially in the Midwest, craftsman houses are some of the most popular and prevalent design styles for new homes. This architectural style offers a timeless charm and grounded vibe that matches the Midwest lifestyle well. However, it’s not uncommon to find craftsman houses throughout the country as well.

The Craftsman style’s emphasis on handcrafted details and natural materials resonates as powerfully today as it did during its inception. In short, these homes are absolutely still in style and are as admired today as they were in the late 19th century. A Craftsman style home interior is inviting, and warm, thanks to the woodwork and natural materials of the cabinetry, flooring and architecture. Despite the overhanging porches built to shade residents from the sun, natural light is an important design element. Both the interior and exterior of craftsman homes may feature built-in elements such as benches, cabinetry, or shelves. These are incorporated with decorative woodwork and enhance the functionality and style of the home.

What are the Jacksonville Jaguars getting in Matt House at linebackers coach?

At Pittsburgh, House led a defense that helped the Panthers to two bowl wins in his three years. His most successful year was in 2013 when his defense ranked No. 34 in the nation in total defense. After beginning his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Michigan State, House has made 10 different stops as an assistant during his career. Defensive coordinator Matt House during UK football's media day at Kroger Field in Lexington, Ky., Sunday, July 30, 2017. In three years with the Chiefs, House was part of a Kansas City organization that won the Super Bowl during the 2019 season and played for the Super Bowl title the following year. In 2022, the Tiger defense included seven players (6 transfers, 1 true freshmen) in significant roles who were playing in an LSU uniform for the first time.

That defense produced first-round pick Josh Allen, second-round pick Lonnie Johnson Jr. and third-round pick Mike Edwards. After a season in Carolina, he spent three years working with the St. Louis Rams under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo working as a defensive quality control coach. House returns to the college ranks for the first time since 2018 after spending three seasons in Kansas City, during which he was part of a Super Bowl victory during the 2019 season. He held the position of defensive coordinator at three other schools before heading to the NFL.

Former LSU DC Matt House lands position on NFL staff, per report

House, cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples, safeties coach Kerry Cooks and defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey were all let go. Kelly informed the four coaches Wednesday morning they would not return after LSU ranked 108th in total defense and 81st in scoring. House, is in his third season with the Chiefs and the defense currently ranks in the top five in the NFL in points allowed at 20.4 and turnovers with 28. During the 2020 season his linebacking core totaled three sacks and 245 tackles. During the Chiefs Super Bowl winning season in 2019 his linebackers had 5.5 sacks and 278 tackles.

What House brings to LSU

In Matt House, new LSU coach Brian Kelly hopes he has found a defensive coordinator who can deliver instantly in Baton Rouge. In his first year at LSU, House had to overhaul a Tiger defense that was decimated due to the NFL Draft and players leaving the program. The result was nothing short of remarkable as the Tigers ranked among the top half the SEC in nearly every major defensive category. The project is described only as an original story that Galluppi developed and brought to Raimi and team. No word on a plot or who all will be producing, as it’s early days here.

LSU hires Matt House as new defensive coordinator

Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock took the same position at Notre Dame in December. Denbrock came to LSU after he was the offensive coordinator at Cincinnati for four seasons. He previously served as an assistant at Notre Dame from 2010 to '16.

Grading every pick of the Chiefs' 2024 draft class

Before his time in Lexington and Miami, House spent time as a defensive coordinator at Pittsburgh ( ) where he coached first round NFL Draft pick Aaron Donald. Donald has since become one of the most dominant defenders in the NFL, twice being named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year. Pitt won two bowl games during House’s three years with the Panthers. House has been coaching football since 2001, when he took a job as a graduate assistant at Michigan State. He worked his way up to the NFL ranks in 2008, taking his first stop in the pros as an assistant special teams coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. House brings an impressive combination of experience and success in both the SEC and NFL, proving himself as a defensive coordinator at the Power 5 level at both Kentucky and Pittsburgh.

While LSU's offense averaged 8.4 yards per play and looked unstoppable at times, the defense gave up 6.1 yards per play and more than 400 yards per game. Without a singular strength, all of that combined to create one of the worst defenses in school history. LSU allowed 28 points and 416 yards per game, numbers that worsened against the best teams. The Tigers gave up 34 points per game against Power Five opponents. Jancek continued to hold the position, which was not his area of expertise.

House went back to the pros in 2019, joining the Kansas City Chiefs staff as linebackers coach. He was with the Chiefs for three seasons, picking up a ring for the club’s Super Bowl LIV win. House continued coaching inside linebackers while he was the defensive coordinator for the 2017 and ’18 seasons. Kelly now has multiple spots to fill with vacancies at offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, defensive line, inside linebackers, safeties and cornerbacks. He kept the majority of his staff intact before his second season, but his third will be defined by how well he adjusts.

Linebackers coach Matt House explains why he chose to join Chiefs

Winning a Super Bowl is the ultimate achievement for a football coach, so that had to make this decision very easy for him. During House’s coaching journey, he coached Jaguars’ franchise linebacker Josh Allen at Kentucky for two seasons. Allen had 14 sacks between 2016 and 2017 while House was on staff with the Wildcats. With Nielsen now the team’s new defensive coordinator, he has been quickly moving to fill out his position coaches.

What happened in May of 2021 was that I was playing a joke on stage with someone who knew me and knew my style. And it was a time in which I think being a victim was looked at — as a — I don’t want to say a good thing, but it was something that people were utilizing to get their own names out there. Comedians are watching comedians do comedy on “Kill Tony.” I’m using a pro wrestling model.

The House came together Saturday to pass a sweeping $95 billion foreign aid package, a rare moment of bipartisan cooperation in the closely divided chamber. But the move only intensified infighting among House Republicans, who split sharply on the strategy to deliver assistance to foreign allies including Ukraine and Israel. "If I operated out of fear of a motion to vacate, I would never be able to do my job," Johnson told reporters this week. "History judges us for what we do. This is a critical time right now."

Instead of staying in Kansas City or pursuing another NFL job, former Chiefs LB coach Matt House joined the college football ranks. Speaking to the media in his introductory press conference on Wednesday, House explained why he decided to leave such a high-profile NFL job to return to college football. Saturday's vote marked the first time the House had approved billions of dollars in Ukraine aid since December 2022, when Democrats still controlled the chamber. At the time, it was the crime capital of America; Youngstown, Ohio, averaging about a murder a day with a population of about 40,000 people.

But in voting against conservative measures they do not believe go far enough, other Republicans say, hard-liners are weakening Johnson’s hand in negotiations because the conference is not united around a set of demands. Most House Republicans have grown weary of colleagues who consistently vote against legislation that must be addressed rather than work to seek compromise within the party. The House of Representatives on Saturday passed a more than $60 billion bill to provide military and economic aid to Ukraine.

House also served as defensive coordinator at Pittsburgh and FIU with varying levels of success. The Kansas City Chiefs lost a pair of defensive position coaches this offseason. This year, the Chiefs have clinched the AFC West with an 11-4 overall record and they are led by a defense that ranks among the top five in the NFL in points allowed per game (20.4) and takeaways (28). House, currently the linebacker coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, will commence his duties with LSU, including recruiting, once the NFL season is complete.

With House on staff, the Chiefs have made two Super Bowls and are currently the AFC's No. 1 seed with two regular season games left. LSU said in a release that House will join new coach Brian Kelly's staff following the end of the Chiefs' season. House will continue coaching Kansas City through its postseason run before joining Kelly and LSU, the school announced. Cooks had come with Kelly from Notre Dame, where he was a defensive analyst after coaching defensive backs at multiple schools.

LSU defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Matt House on the field before kickoff against Missouri, Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Faurot Field on the campus of The University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. At first, House was reported to be leaving his job as defensive coordinator at the University of Kentucky to join the Chiefs as linebackers coach. Then, abruptly, Kentucky refused to negotiate House’s buyout on his contract. Eventually, they got the deal done, and now House is happily with the Chiefs. Since 2015, House has been a defensive coordinator and linebackers coach in both college and the NFL. LSU football on Wednesday announced it has fired defensive coordinator Matt House and several defensive staffers following what was largely a disappointing season for the Tigers' defensive unit.

Branding is largely about logos, colors, and typography, but it’s also more than that. Whatever design element you’re creating for a brand, it needs to be purposeful. Matthew Perry sells Century City penthouse for $21 6 million, priciest condo sale in years Los Angeles Times

Like many of his other properties, this too had a screening room and a gorgeous pool, and large windows facing the stunning outdoor area from multiple rooms, overlooking the lights of the city. However, what truly made this house special was that the home theater was underground and had large windows that offered underwater views of the pool. Perry purchased this 5,500-square-foot property for $12 million. This beachfront oasis sits on the famous Malibu Road, and features an airy open floor plan with gorgeous wood floors, beamed ceilings, and expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. There are four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms in this home, as well as a home theater, a relaxing outdoor spa, and a luxury galley kitchen we would love to cook in.

Record deals and tax-avoidance maneuvers: Southern California’s priciest sales of 2023

The listing now shows the property to be "temporarily withdrawn." There is also a screening room that seats a small group and a private, shaded outdoor hot tub area. Perry has shared several photos taken inside the home on Instagram in the past year, including one calling out a group of beachgoers taken amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Now, the property has sold for $13.1 million - $1.85 million less than the original asking price. Matthew Perry is officially saying goodbye to his beautiful Malibu beach house.

Wayfair Way Day: Here's what we know about the year's best furniture and home decor sale

Matthew Perry has listed his Hollywood Hills home for $13.5 million according to Trulia. The television show star purchased the contemporary house in 2011 for $8.5 million. The 3,821-square-foot home sits above the Sunset Strip, offering views from the iconic Los Angeles area to the downtown skyline, and all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Many rooms take advantage of the view with floor-to-ceiling glass sliders, which open up to a flat backyard with a LED-lit infinity swimming pool, a patio, a reflecting pool, fire pits, patches of green grass and greenery. The three-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom space has an open living and dining area and a small indoor greenroom, with hardwood flooring and built-in shelving throughout the interiors. The modern design pops with bright accents throughout the house, including lime green countertops and a matching backsplash in the kitchen.

Rosie O’Donnell relists her NYC triplex penthouse — for a loss

Perry purchased the beachfront property in a 2011 off-market deal valued at exactly $12 million, according to Variety. The publication reports that the 5,500-square-foot home sits along one of Malibu's most "prestigious" streets. He decided to transform it into a sober living facility called the Perry House to help others with the same afflictions he had experienced.

For a reported $3.2 million, Perry purchased a 6,500-square-foot home in the Beverly Hills area. Without waiting for his first home to sell (which turned out to be a pattern of the star's), he bought this 1970s mansion and upgraded it with all the normal features you would find in a celebrity's bachelor pad. He apparently put in a screening room, a home gym, a wine cellar, and a game room, to name a few of his extra amenities. Inside, a massive open floor plan provides easy motion between the living room, kitchen, and dining room. The living room boasts a large grey-tiled modern fireplace that stretches to the ceiling and a retractable wall of glass that spans nearly the length of the entire back wall.

Plus there’s an open-plan living and dining space, hardwood floors, built-in bookshelves, and colorful kitchen and walls of floor-to-ceiling glass sliders. Oh and there’s a subterranean screening room which offers views into the infinity edge swimming pool. By 2020, Perry had both his Mansion in the Sky and his Malibu beach house on the market, but that didn't stop him from buying yet another property. For $6 million, the Friends star purchased a four-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathrooms home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Surf fans, of course, venerate Reeves as a saint after his portrayal of Johnny Utah in Point Break, which remains the best surf movie ever made. In the gals, it was all France’s queen of big-wave surfing Justine Dupont, the first woman to surf mythical outer-reef Belharra. Best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends, Perry grew up in Ottawa, Canada, and moved to California to live with his father as a teen, which he recounted in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. New Zealand surfers, these days, are in the midst of a brutal one.

Protests were in the process of being organized, acts of civil disobedience in the works, though Perry quickly pivoted and said he was sorry. It's described as "quintessential southern California living" by Realtor.com—one look at the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the Pacific coast and we can see why. It’s one of Southern California’s most expensive condo sales in the last decade, ranking just behind another Century Tower penthouse (coincidentally found a floor below Perry’s place) that sold for $22.5 million in 2015. The current benchmark was set in 2010, when socialite Candy Spelling dropped $35 million on a 15,555-square-foot residence with a private pool that spans the top two floors of the same building.

Reeves, of course, originated the role of Johnny Utah in Point Break, the greatest surf film ever, and surf fans took the slur seriously. Matthew Perry paid six mill for it three years ago and was hit with seventy-one grand in property taxes every year, peanuts for an actor who was still getting three mill a year in syndication residuals. Jug, who’s forty-nine and a firefighter a couple hours north of Sydney at Bateau Bay, said he’s never seen a shark in the wild before, only dead on the beach.

In an off-market deal, Perry apparently paid $5.25 million, $750,000 under asking price. This home has three bedrooms and four bathrooms and sits on a 9,622-square-foot lot, and, now a connection to a beloved star who won't be forgotten. After the first season of Friends, Perry bought a 2-bedroom house in the Hollywood Hills, a residential neighborhood in Los Angeles well known for being a celebrity hub. This was the first ever home Perry bought, and he sold it in April of 2001 for $839,000. The beginning of his real estate portfolio, the house was a modest 2,000 square feet.

Taking place at the Washington Hilton Hotel, the annual event is hosted this year by Saturday Night Live comedian Colin Jost. "When I die, I don't want 'Friends' to be the first thing that's mentioned – I want helping others to be the first thing that's mentioned," he said then. This 4,100-square-foot retreat features sheets of glass that open up to a patio and swimming pool. Designed in the mid-century modern style, the house includes multiple fireplaces (both indoor and outdoor), a home theater, and three bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths. It resides in the Sunset Strip neighborhood, which is an extremely well-known and historic area in Hollywood surrounded by legendary bars and landmarks. A set of floating concrete steps leads up to an oversized front door, flanked by a row of floor-to-ceiling windows and an attached two-car garage. Visitors are greeted by an atrium-style entryway with stone tile floors and an all-glass ceiling that allows pools of natural light to stream in.

"Most people who are well advised would have a will and a trust because the trust only operates on assets that you've put inside the trust," says Zwicker. "So you can think of the trust as a box with rules. You put your stuff in the box and the rules govern. If you've left something out of the box, we need our will." "So clearly anyone who is thinking does not pass their assets through a will because everything becomes public." The open floor plan made the buyer swoon, according to Luis Robledo, the Douglas Elliman agent who represented the buyer. The home also features an outdoor spa and a state-of-the-art home theater.

Koon painted on the bows using a liner brush and black gel polish and then layering silver chrome powder on top. If you’re doing this at home, she notes the easiest way is to use an acrylic nail art pen.

Disney Wish photos: A first look at Disney's new cruise ship

Typically single photo downloads cost about $21, packages of 10 cost about $150, and packages of 20 cost about $250. Is this a once-in-lifetime family reunion during the holidays? If you hate being photographed, or are 100% certain that you will never buy a photo, then feel free to wave off the photographers and go about your business. I went back through our old cruise information and surfed the internet to compile what I think is the most recent price lists. If you have sailed recently and noticed prices different than those below, please email me or comment below and let me know. Note that these prices are subject to change at anytime and may be different for your actually sailing, but hopefully it will give you a general idea of the type of pricing you can expect.

Disney Cruise Photo Package Overview

At any time during your cruise, you can stop by Shutters (mid-ship, adjacent to the atrium) and view your photos. You can view them on a computer screen by swiping your room key at one of the kiosks during Shutters’ operating hours. Note that the facial recognition software is not fool proof, so try and remember each time you have your photo taken and then make sure the photo shows up in your account. If you notice you are missing any photos, ask a Shutters employee to help you find it in the system and add it to your account.

All About the Photo Packages on Disney Cruise Line

If you have two staterooms as part of the same booking, and guests under age 21 are in the second stateroom, the photos for both staterooms will show up in one package. This should happen automatically, but in my experience it often takes a trip to the onboard Shutters photo desk to make it happen. You can, however, make the package more valuable by taking advantage of the photographers as much as possible. My family tends to buy the photo package on every second or third sailing. On sailings where we know we’re buying the package, we make a game of seeing how many photos we can have the onboard photographers take of us.

I have never done this but I have heard that the packages are 15% cheaper than what you will find onboard but I cannot personally verify this. Hopefully one of my readers can speak to that in the comments below. Even if you don’t want to preorder, visiting the site will give you access to some ideas of the prices for sailings within the next 2 months or so. This topic gives me an opportunity to annoy you all with one of my favorite DCL stories. The photo below was taken on New Years Eve 2019 onboard the Disney Fantasy.

I know that there are such things as selfie sticks but nothing beats a great photo of the whole family having fun on a Disney cruise. The borders around the photos are often just not to my taste. If you want a formal night photo be aware that you may be standing in line for quite a while. They also set up lots of photo backgrounds around the ship. Every character greeting you go to you will find a photographer.

They’ll get the job done, but it may not be pretty. Yes, DCL offers mugs, mousepads, plaques, and other items imprinted with your photos. You can order these on the ships or via the DCL photo website. In either case your items will be delivered to your home several weeks after you disembark. If you choose the photo book option, the book will be delivered to your home several weeks after your sailing, adding a level of challenge to any remediation you might need. Standard aspect ratios of photos in the US are 4″x6″, 5″x7″, or 8″x10″.

There are a variety of price points, but the most common is the all-inclusive photo package. These packages include the digital files of all the photos you have taken onboard. There is an option to pre-order some items prior to your cruise by visiting mycruisephotos.com.

The ship’s photographers (on the lower left) were still setting up and we wanted a photo with the tree in the background. I flagged down a teenage girl walking out of the Royal Court restaurant (teen girls always take the best photos) and asked her if she had a moment to take a photo of our family. As it turned out the girl was a daughter of Bobby Lopez and Kirsten Anderson-Lopez, the composing team behind Frozen and countless other musical theater masterpieces.

I took the non-logoed photo with my iPhone 13 about two seconds later. The photo package is available to everyone on board. The advantage of booking online in advance is simply the modest price break. Photographers will visit also every restaurant on the ship on select nights. This usually includes formal night and pirate night (if there is one), plus additional nights on longer sailings or specially themed sailings. They’ll stop by each table and will take as many shots as you want.

Then once you get on board the second stateroom family can buy the package at a 50% discount. There are a number of ways that you can buy Disney cruise photos. I am sure that one day soon that will change but at the moment there is no option to choose a different one. Unfortunately, you do not have the option to choose to remove or change the borders. I am not sure why in the age of digital ease but you get what you are given with the borders. Photos are of course an amazing way to capture the memories of your Disney Cruise.

They were in one stateroom and I (an adult) was in my own stateroom, but our reservations were linked and we ate dinner together and participated in some Port Adventures together. My friends opted to purchase the photo package and I did not. During our sailing, I posed in many photos with them.

There are so many photo ops you really can go all out and maximize it. The Shutters area on the Disney ships is very crowded on the last evening. It’s easy to change photos in and out of your Disney Cruise Photo Album and arrange them on the page as you want to.

You will be prompted to select your ship and sail date. Other DCL guests are often happy to help with photography. The photographers themselves usually won’t do this. However, during some character greeting photo ops, there will be an assistant available who will be happy to use your camera to take a few shots. In my experience, they often don’t take much care to compose the shot well.
